My PS3 Died....; suggestions welcome

:(

I was playing Fallout 3 for a bit, switched it off, came back about an hour later, and now my PS3 won't read any discs at all. It has the "whirling disc" icon in the top right of the screen and the blue light on the PS3 lights up showing the Disc is trying to be read.

When I eject it the Disc comes out in exactly the same position I put it in, which I read on another forum is a sign the blueray reader is "fucked", some suggestions I've seen is to try a Lens Cleaner, but most have said a repair/replacement is the only way to fix it, has anyone else experienced this? has anyone managed to fix it? my warranty ran out about a month ago, so I'll have to pay for a repair.

I'm thinking of just buying a new one (as I had an old 60GB one) and moving all my game saves to a USB harddrive and then moving them back again onto the new one. Any ideas would be welcome

Sorry I don't know what to do, the worst my step bros PS3 went was not reading PS2 discs, all he had to do was restart EVERYTHING, so all data was lost, but it read everything afterwards. Of course it's an 80G (I believe) so there may be a difference?

This kind of happened to me with my 360. Red ring you say? Nay-nay. I have yet to get a red ring in TWO YEARS ( :) ) what happens? The mother turns on too many appliances at the same time and fries my transformer. Of course, she doesn't help for jack, so I got to sell my stuff just to buy a new one (fixing it was out of the question, seeing as how fixing it would cost $200, while buying new with a wireless controller, a memory card and a game with a bunch of arcade games was only $226. ;) )

Anywho, good luck, I know how it feels. :(

Aw, i am so sorry for you...since both 360 and PS3 have tehnnical problems, i think i should say it:......Wii FTW!!!! I mean, i don't know anyone who had any tehnnical problems with Wii, but still...the Wii is more of a horrible console than a great console.
