As far as trying to remember names, this chapter was definitely the worst for me. My notes are pretty messy because I was trying to make a family tree sort of thing, but even with that, it's so hard to remember! I actually had to re-read the first part of this chapter because by the time I finished with trying to learn names of Finwë's whole family, I had forgotten what happened before that. Then when I got back to the first part, I remembered it was descriptions and names of types of elves, so even more to remember! So I may have to go back and re-read this one eventually, but for now I'm hoping that everyone will be mentioned again throughout the book and it'll get easier to remember them all. I'm still quite lost with all the elves, to be honest, but I particularly liked this chapter in terms of themes and the story of the elves' longing for the sea. It is very poetic, and suits the race of the Elves quite well in my opinion. I read this chapter three times in order to try and get things right, but even then I couldn't place every name of the different groups of elves right... That's Tolkien for you! (Also yes I'm kinda late about this but I am still reading the book x) ) |
