Ooh! There's that bear! I thought to myself. I knew I had smelled a bear around here. I was on a hunting trip alone in the forest, about 40 miles away from Juneau. There, I lived with Carlisle, Esme, and Edward. Edward and I didn't get along, to say the least, and I wondered now why I didn't run now and start my own coven with the same philosophy as Carlisle's. Sure, I liked Carlisle, and I loved Esme, but Edward, he, I hated with a cold, black heart. No pun intended. I followed the bear's scent. Then, I smelled something different, sweeter, something that I could label as human. But it was strange. It was strong, and thick, and somehow, flowing. I wondered what a human could be doing out here. I followed that scent now, not hunting, but curious. I saw the bear, and I realized, the human was being mauled. Ok, even though Edward says I don't, I have a heart, and mine was sad that the poor human was being killed. I looked around the bear to see the human, and I saw a man's face. He was in a lot of pain, no doubt, but there was something about him that I wanted to save. I flipped the bear onto its back and snapped it's neck. I didn't want it to be in pain either. I wasn't hungry anymore, I wasn't even tempted by the human's blood, but just in case, I stopped breathing when I picked him up. He stared into my eyes, as if I was something holy, some kind of savior. I was used to admiration, but not this. It was a stare of... amazement... happiness... I couldn't understand it. It was as if... he thought I was an angel or something. I wasn't going to let him see any angels if I had my say. I... I needed Carlisle to change him. I couldn't do it, obviously, but... I needed this nameless man. He had some kind of... magnetic draw to me. I ran faster than I ever had before. I just hoped he wouldn't die before I got to our home, probably 60 miles from here. I thought grimly, I bet I'm running faster than Edward ever could. Ha. I ran for 5 minutes, 10 minutes. Sheesh, maybe I went further than I thought. I was finally met be Edward, lips pressed together, hiding a frown. He disapproved. I didn't care. I spoke to him finally, "Take him to Carlisle. I can't run as fast as you." He nodded, took him into his arms, and ran the last few miles to the house, with me trailing not far behind. "Hey, Carlisle! Look at what Rose drug home! I wonder if she did this to him..." he trailed off, smirking. He knew well and good it was a bear that did it and that's why I didn't hold back my growl. "Ooh, scary!" he laughed. Carlisle came downstairs and gasped. "Rosalie, did you do this?" "No. Edward knows that, he was just being a jerk as always." "What do you want with him?" he asked, pointing to the now unconscious. Edward answered for me, "She wants you to save him," he still had that smirk on his face that told the rest of the story. I hated that smirk, and I thought on purpose, Get that smirk off your face or I'll do it for you. |
