Birdman is looking to fly alongside the Hornets once again.

Birdman is back

NEW ORLEANS -- After being reinstated by the league and the players association, Chris "Birdman" Andersen is looking to start over.

“We know that Chris is a good person who made a bad mistake and we’re proud of him for taking responsibility for his actions,” said Hornets Owner George Shinn. “Now that he has taken the steps to be reinstated by the NBA, we can concentrate on what he can do to help this team as we head towards the playoffs.”

“I am truly sorry for letting down the organization, my teammates, the fans and the city with my mistakes,” said Andersen. “I humbly thank the NBA and the Shinn family for this second chance and I promise that I will do everything I can on and off the court to make the most of it.”

Andersen holds career NBA averages of 5.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 253 games. He averaged 6.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 99 games during his one-and-a-half seasons with the Hornets (including 5.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 32 games during the 2005-06 season prior to his dismissal from the league). Before joining the Hornets, Andersen averaged 4.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 154 games (2001-2004) with the Denver Nuggets.

Chris Paul scored only 2 points in the first half, but had 22 in the second.

Paul leads Team Red in come-from-behind victory.
Game statistics.

NEW ORLEANS -- A charity game between the Hornets team "Red" and team "Yellow" was held in New Orleans. As a part in the "NBA Cares" event, many of which are held in New Orleans, to help build houses for people, still suffering from the damages of hurricane Katrina.

The game was just like "picking teams" in gym class. Byron Scott chose Chris Paul and David West to pick the teams. West had the first pick, then CP3 pick two and so on.

Hilton Armstrong, Jannero Pargo, Rasual Butler and Ryan Bowen didn't participate do to minor injuries.

So here are the teams :

Team "Red"

C - Melvin Ely.
PF - Chris Andersen.
SF - Peja Stojakovic.
SG - Morris Peterson.
PG - Chris Paul ©
Jersey - Oklahoma City Hornets - Valentine's Day Alternate.

Team "Yellow"

C - Tyson Chandler.
PF - David West ©
SF - Julian Wright.
SG - Bonzi Wells.
PG - Mike James.
Jersey - New Orleans Hornets - Alternate.

The game was pretty competitive. Team yellow, behind newly acquired Houston back-court Bonzi Wells and Mike James, took an early lead. After the first quarter, team Yellow was up by 8. CP3 was scoreless.

Second quarter was very low scoring, teams shooting 33% and 26% respectively. Team Yellow held a 7 point lead.

Third quarter CP3 came alive. He had 9 in the quarter and pulled the lead within 3. In the fourth, CP3 scored 13 points. In the beginning of the fourth, there were 7 straight lead changes. Both teams shot well in the fourth.

CP3 brought home the MVP honors with his 24 points and 8 assists. The Birdman didn't make a filed goal, but finished with 2 points via free throws.

Paul clutch in season opener.

Game statistics. / Click.

NEW ORLEANS -- The season opener against the Kings, playing their first game without Mike Bibby, was everything but easy for the Hornets. They played well the first half, but gave the lead they've gained back.

With just a three point game going in to the fourth, Chris Paul was ready to carry the team on his shoulders. He scored 11 in the forth, including 7-7 from the stripe, to keep to Hornets ahead.

With 8 ahead the Hornets subbed out Paul, who showed signs of exhaustion. Kings saw the weakness and managed to tie the game with a minute to go.

Paul checked back in quite quickly.

Chris Paul hit 3 from the stripe, but Kevin Martin hit a jumper with 17 seconds to go. Paul was doubled, kicked it out to Bonzi Wells, who played really well, but wasn't able to hit.

In overtime, Chris Paul scored 10 points (6-6 from the stripe.) and added 6 assists as the Hornets pulled away late.

Paul finished with 38 points and 8 assists.

Playing with subs most through the fourth, even they ruled the court, outscoring the Blazers
by 19 points. Chris Andersen had his first dunk as a Hornet after the suspension. He had two 3
three-point plays in the fourth and finished with 6 points.

Brandon Roy, bothered by a sore ankle, came off the bench and finished with 7 points on a 2-
15 shooting. James Jones, who got the start for Roy, scored 20 points.

Hornets acquire Young and Carney from Philly.

NEW ORLEANS, -- After complaining about team chemistry and his relationship with Bonzi Wells,
Morris Peterson was shipped to Philly on Thursday. Peterson didn't request the trade, but he wasn't
against it.

The main cause for this trade was Wells, mentioned before. He lacked chemistry with Peterson, also
with Butler, who was also dealt. But averaging 12.5 points off the bench in two games played this season,
rose his market stock. Plus Byron Scott loves his playing style - Passionate.

He will take over the starting two-guard spot, with both Carney and Young coming off the bench. They
both have great talent, which will help a young team like the Hornets.

The two players will suit up against a road game with the Denver Nuggets.

Trade breakdown :

• DENVER, -- Playing with newcomers Thaddeus Young and Rodney Carney,
the Hornets were hot throughout the game and started their three-game
road trip, tipping it off with a tricky triumph over the Nuggets.

Chris Paul and David West split 68 points, Bonzi Wells added 12 points.
The newcomers played 24 minutes combined. Thaddeus Young was
brighter this evening, scoring 8 points, all in the fourth quarter and added
7 rebounds. Rodney Carney didn't score on one field goal attempted, but
had a steal, a block on Allen Iverson and a board.

Allen Iverson and "Melo" combined for 59 points, but it wasn't enough.
They also combined for 10 turnovers, while the Hornets Paul-West duo had
only 3, all from Paul.

The Hornets will travel to Los Angeles, where they'll face Kobe Bryant, Pau
Gasol and the rest of the Lakers. They have three players averaging over

Kobe Bryant brilliant - hands Hornets first defeat.

• LA, STAPLES -- Kobe Bryant had a monster double-double with 32 points and a
career-high-tying 15 assists and Pau Gasol added 22 and 11 boards to hand the
Hornets their first loss of the season. The Lakers were 1-2 before the game, the
Hornets are now 3-1.

David West scored a season-low 15 points and Chris Paul had only 4 assists.
The Hornets were outrebounded 47-36 and had 21 fouls, compared to just 11 by
the Lakers.

The Hornets will visit the Rose Garden next, where they'll take on the Blazers,
led by Greg Oden and a healthy Brandon Roy.
07/11/07 - Hornets (111) - Blazers (104)
West big, Hornets back on winning track.

• PORTLAND, RG -- When Chris Paul fouled out with 4.22 to go, David West knew, the
team was depending on him. And he did his part. He had 11 points in the fourth,
8 in the final 3 minutes and led the Paul-less Hornets to a 111-104 road victory
over the Blazers.

Hornets scored a season high 42 points in the fourth, 10 from the stripe. In fact,
the Hornets shot 61% from the field in the fourth. The Blazers sot "only" 56%.
It was a battle between two of the youngest teams in the league. With West,
Peja and Wells on the bench, Wright, Carney and Young help to carry the team,
keeping them in the game.

When West and chandler subbed back in, alongside Young, James and Wright
the Hornets when on a 13-0 run, and finishing the game with a 20-10 scoring
affair.

1st overall pick Greg Oden scored 18 points and pulled down a season high 16
boards. He had some other goodies too, with 6 assists and 4 blocks.

The Hornets will now fly back home to New Orleans, where after a day off they'll
face the defending champs - the San Antonio Spurs.

Paul near Triple-Double, Hornets beat Spurs.

• NEW ORLEANS -- Chris Paul scored 28 through 3 quarters, but displayed his
MVP mention with other goodies. He only scored 2 points in the 4th - from the
stripe, but had 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in the final frame,
carrying the Hornets over the visiting Spurs.

Manu Ginobili kept the Spurs in it, scoring 9 in the final frame. Tim Duncan
was good as usual, with 24 points and 15 boards. He added 3 blocks and
two steals, not committing a foul doing that. Michael Finley had 12 and
Tony Parker added 18 and 8 assists.

The bench scoring was just awful this game by both teams. 7-6 in favor of
the Spurs. They're bench shot 3-9 FG and 0-2 FT, The Hornets, whose
bench had much more minutes, 3-16 FG and had 0 foul shots.

Tyson Chandler saw limited action due to a sore right knee, which gave
Chris Andersen a shot. He had 0 points, 2 blocks and 4 boards in 23
minutes.

The Spurs as a team had 13 blocks, "Big Shot" Rob had 5 of those. The
Hornets on the other hand had 13 steals.

11/11/07 - Hornets (91) - Sixers (79)
West shines in easy win over the Sixers.

• PHILLY -- Managing to secure a 12 point lead by half-time, the Hornets
just kept on rolling in to the fourth and final frame, achieving a 18 point
lead. The Hornets were up against former team-mates Morris Peterson,
who was starting and Rasual Butler, who didn't see action.

Starters saw limited action in the last frame, which the Hornets lost 22-16,
which brought the second unit in, what Byron Scott calls "The Young
Squad." It wasn't really effective, failing to score in a 2 and a half minute
span. But they played great defense. Paul and West came back in, but
both didn't score anymore. The Sixers actally ended the game with a 8-0
run.

The Hornets will now fly to New Jersey, where they'll face Vince Carter,
Devin Harris and the rest of the Nets, who are expected to play with full
depth, no injuries in their roster so far this season.

Complete team effort raises Hornets over Nets.

• PHILLY -- Chris Paul scored only 11 points, but handed out 13 assists in
a cruise over the hometown Nets. David West led the Hornets with 24,
Thaddeus Young and Rodney Carney combined for 23 off the bench.

The Hornets, up by double-digits in the third, Carney, Young, Wright and
Pargo saw more action, a combined 42 minutes. Young and Carney were
really contributive. Young added a career-high 11 boards. Carney added
the little thing, like a block, a steal, two boards and just as many dimes.

Devin Harris led the Mavs with 22, Vince Carter added 18. Newly acquired
post-players Swift and Diop combined for 21 rebounds and four blocks in
the defeat.

14/11/07 - Hornets (99) - Sixers (76)
Chandler shines in a big win at home.

Posted Image
• PHILLY -- Tyson Chandler, not really effective to start the 07/08 campaign,
had a monster game at home. He only scored 10 points, but he topped
that off with 17 boards, 5 blocks, 3 steals and 3 assists. He only had a
board in the final frame, so he was dominating against Dalembert
throughout the game.

David West, once again, led the team in scoring with a decent 20, adding 6
boards to that. Teams MVP Chris Paul had his third double-double in four
games with 13 points and 11 assists.

Andre Iguodala led the Sixers with 27 points, 8 dimes and 6 boards with a
couple of blocks. Andre Miller had 24 points on 25 shots. Samuel
Dalembert had an off night, shooting 1-7 with 5 turnovers. Chandler
played great defense on him. He did manage to pull down 13 boards, 5 off
the offensive glass.

• MO-PETE TRADE

A lot of people are basketball fans, and they're just like, "Oh, Houston gets Bobby Jackson,"
or "Oh, Peterson goes to Philly." What people don't realize is that, we are basketball players,
but we're also human beings, and we have wives and kids. It's a huge adjustment. Families
have to move. There's also relationships that you've created in a city. It was a pretty big
shock to me, when i heard about Peterson being traded. He had some problems with Bonzi,
who has been great these games for us, but he's better, when he comes off the bench. So Coach
Scott had just moved Thaddeus to the starting line-up, which i think he really deserves. He's
a young funny guy, who always cracks me up in practice. I think he'll have a great future with
us in this organization.

BATTLES ON THE ROAD

With a great start like we've had, we really underestimated the Grizzlies. Sure, they don't have
Gasol any more, but Gay was one of the greatest young players in this league. Mike Conley Jr.
killed us in that fourth quarter. I believe he knocked down all his triples in that last frame.

I really felt i wasn't contributing - i wasn't able to put the ball in the basket and defend. But i was
proud of myself, that i didn't get in to foul trouble. Our short line-up was in the game for the final
minutes, so i was on the bench. when we were up by a point, and CP3 went to the line, we
were curtain, he will knock down both. To all our surprise, he missed the first. He made the
second and a time-out was called. Luckily, Rudy missed a triple at the buzzer.

We were more ready and didn't underestimate the Wolves. I think i had a good game defensively.
Our biggest concern was Jefferson. But he got only 12 points. I was scoreless, so that kinda
sucked. Rodney carried us. He played all throughout the last frame and had like 15 points in
that. He's another great young player, who we received in the Peteron trade. The final score
was settling for us We're doing great, going 10-1 to start.

I'll have my hand full in two days. Dwight will be visiting us with his Orlando. So I'll take
my day off and have a hard workout tomorrow with my personal coach. Dwight leads the
league in rebounding, so I'll have to box him out. He shorter, but more athletic. I'll probably
be in foul trouble, but i sure hope i won't. Most of the team will be counting on me. I don't wanna
let them down.

THE BIRDMAN
I knew of Chris Andersen just from playing against him, but I didn't know him that well as a
person. It's a tough situation for him. I really feel for him, because he's coming back into a
situation where we've really established ourselves as a team. I'm pretty sure he had high
hopes of coming back, and you know he's been out for two years and he's been biting at the
bit to get back on the court. I'm pretty sure he felt like he was gonna come in and play,
and be able to hop into the rotation, but it's not seeming that way. So, I feel for him a lot,
because he made a mistake (we all make mistakes) and he was punished for it.
I'm just really hoping that it turns around for him.

We haven't had any conversations as a team about it. We heard he was coming back, the
organization had a press conference, and that was that. He just started practicing with us.
There was really nothing addressed with the team. So, it's a little awkward. We've been
at home and everybody does their own thing, and we've yet to have
that team function
to break him in a little bit. I just hope that awkwardness dies down, because I really like
him as a person.

• J.J AT THE BUZZER

Man, the Orlando game. The guy has such a will-power. He plays like 8 minutes for
Orlando, but has such confidence. Like in his Duke days. First he earned a trip to line
and then burned us at the buzzer with a triple. CP3 had a great game in the defeat.
He found me a couple of times in the final frame. Had like 14 assists in that game.
He does his scoring throughout the start of the game. Also Peja had some nice plays
down the stretch. Our bench was way less productive then Orlando's. But the bench
wasn't our biggest problem, Lewis was. He's been great in Orlando. Averaging
like 25-9-9 this season. He killed us also, despite we kept him to just 2 points in
the final frame. I was proud to keep Dwight from another double-double. We still
lead the west right now. We're pretty confident about out situation and roster
stability.

BACK ON THE WINNING ROAD

It was a sucky kind of special game for us. The Seattle game. We failed to make even
one three-pointer on 6 attempts. But we had 45 free throws attempts compared
to 18 by the Sonics. We kept Durant to just 7 points on seven shots, so that was
nice. CP3 was once again the guy for us. He had some key steals late. And had
like 10 foul shots also. He's had an awesome season. I only have one problem
with the team. I feel like I'm not contributing. I average 5 shots a game. I have
some troubles also with my shooting percentages. Shooting under .500 is bad for
a big guy like me.

CP3 EARLY MVP RUNNER-UP

We're 11-2 right now, and the main cause of this is CP3. It kinda' rimes with MVP..
You know, CPThre-eee and MV-Peeee. The end is confusing. He's in the top 10 this
year in scoring, assists and steals. He's the league leader in 4th quarter assists.
That's when all the action happens. I guess you can say, about our team, our motto
is "Where CP3 Happens." He has a tough competitor in Tim Duncan, whose Spurs are
also having a good start. They are also in double-digits in the win column. I think CP3
deserves it more. We just have to keep our wins coming.
