Hi everyone. When I am in CTF, I frequently time out, sometimes worse than others. This is really crappy, and probably annoys others as well. My ping is always low ~50, but my connection is only 1.4. Is there anything I can adjust in my settings to help these timeout, or somekind of buffer I can setup? framerates or some shiyte? thanks |

Hi Borat Here are the basic settings, for playing on any of the Vogon server's: do these in the console /rate 30000 /snaps 30 /cl_maxpackets 30 If they help, I have other settings, depending on your system, that will make your experience, more enjoyable.

I recommend to use rates 25000-30000, or even lower, in case of bad connection. You can try /rate 5000 and see if it helps. Usually bad connection will give you crappy playing experience, it won't time out. It seems like ISP issue. But just in case, try /rate 5000-15000 and /cl_packetdup 0-2, with /cl_maxpackets 15-60. For good connections and intense games on small maps, you may want to set rate above 30000, max is 42000. |

/rate 5000-15000 and /cl_packetdup 0-2, with /cl_maxpackets 15-60. I am using these settings and it works much better, although it still times out, just not as much. -- BO knows getting railed |
