There are only a few there I haven't yet seen. How does one go about making their own map? I imagine it to be a lengthy, frustrating process. Paganeo, if you're bored with the maps, why not try to make a new strategy for them? I used to be bored of the space maps because of their seeming simplicity, but after a while, we get to know your jumping patterns, and I've gotten quite good at railing some guys straight out of the sky. Try a crazy new path, because it can mean the difference between a W or an L in a tourney or game with skilled players! Besides, you'll need the practice for the tournament. On a side note, we could always play in Obiwan's house: http://www.download.com/Quake-3-Map-Obiwan...4-10048990.html What do you think, Dyn? |

Heheheheh....I like the fact that in the regular version of the map, if you grab the BFG on top of the entertainment center, the words "Camper in the Living Room" flashes on everyone's screens... |

I've played it -- It's a real hoot! You are mouse sized in a huge house with the chance to run through the ventilation system, the toilet, sink, cupboards and the like, bounce on the beds and generally be pretty damn silly! I think it would be even more absurd in Vogon Anarchy FFA!!! It has my vote! |

Well there's another thought as well - one we have tossed around a little as admins; Make you work for your weapons and / or ammo instead of just giving you everything. But of course this brought out the complaints ... you mean I don't get unlimited ammo to spam the crap outta everything?!?! ... what do you mean I have to change up and actually use 2 of the 9 weapons; why can't I just use this one spam weapon?!? ... man this sux, I actually have to think and figure out where the other buttons on my keyboard are for more than one weapon!!??! ... <multiple explatives> sux - I have these 2 weapons bound to my mouse and I don't know how to change them. This was the best IMO ... you knew enough to bind weapons to the mouse but don't know how to change it?!?!?!?! ... where the hell is the BFG?!?! - What!?!? I have to find it!?! This sux! ... <insert additional whinny complaints> As Dyn pointed out all of those maps - or very close to - are being run on the server - however not all in a row. The way things work is : - 5 Standard CTF maps - A set of other maps - 5 Standard CTF maps - A set of other maps - 5 Standard CTF maps - A set of other maps - 5 Standard CTF maps - A set of other maps - 5 Standard CTF maps - A set of other maps - start over from the beginning. However most players don't stick around that long and usually just have bad timing when they return that either standard maps are in the rotation or the map configuration file has recycled and it's starting over. The other problem with adding new maps - people in general are lazy and don't want to download map paks from our site, although this has improved over time. Providing the maps for download 'in-game' is pretty much fruitless as in general it takes longer to download the map then it does to play it. Good suggestion there on trying something new - new strategy. I for one got bored and then started learning how to manipulate the grapple. How to swing / glide myself around the map, through curved hallways - slingshot myself across the space maps like a rubber band. Weapon jump and use of a weapon to 'sling' yourself around a map is great too! Personally I know a lot of players on the server do not do the above - yeah I've watched ya there are only a few players I've seen really use the RL or BFG to 'push' themself around the map (makes it real hard for the enemy team to hit you) as well as swing/sling with the grapple. |

Whenever I get bored (or it's 5v1 and I'm still winning
) I just go rail... you don't really appreciate the other weapons until you can't BFG-jump, don't use the hook and have to have pin-point accuracy with every single shot. This always keeps me on my toes, helps my accuracy overall, and most importantly, makes me approach every map with a different mindset, almost as though it was a completely different map.So, next time you get bored... just whip out the rail. |
