A/N: I never posted this one on the old writer's dream, and i don't know why Chapter One: The Girls Shyann still did not and would not believe it, her parents could not have gotten divorced, and now she had to move to some dinky little town with like no people at all. Her little sister Lesley was sleeping in her car seat in the back of her mothers Ferrari. Shyann is a fifteen-year-old girl, her hair is silky auburn and down to her shoulders. Her eyes are a misty purple, which used to freak out her friends until they got used to it. Lesley is two years old and has auburn hair and misty blue eyes. The girl’s mother’s name is Lara, and Shyann looks just like her except her mother’s eyes are ocean breeze blue. ‘It’s still raining’ Shyann thought sadly as she looked out her window. It was true the rain had been coming down hard on 93 north since they had first arrived on that stretch of highway. “Mom does it ever stop raining here?” Shyann asked her mother, looking over to the driver side were her mother sat. “Of course it does hunny, you just wait the sun will be shinning on Monday morning for us,” Lara answered. ‘That’s mom for you’ Shyann thought looking back out her window ‘always looking on the bright side, well look where that got her.’ Shyann looked back, she knew it was to late to decide that she wanted to stay with her dad, and all of her friends. Shawn, her big brother, had stayed behind, but Shyann knew what this meant to her mom, starting their own life, and living the way they wanted. ‘Another chapter in the marvelous life of Shyann Johnson’ she thought as she fell asleep. ***** “Bethany Cortez get up, you’re going to be late for school.” Daryll called up the stairs to his daughter. “I’m up dad hold on I’ll be right down,” Beth, as all her friends called her, responded to her dad. She finished getting dressed and ran down stairs where the sweet smell of syrup filled her nose. Her dad was making pancakes again. ‘Just like mom used to before she passed away’ Beth thought as she sat down to eat her breakfast. Beth is a fifteen-year-old with long silky black hair with two blonde streaks down the front. Her eyes are brown like her father’s. In realty she looks a lot like her father. Her mother died five years early while giving birth to the brother Beth would have had if he hadn’t died a week later. It was Monday and the rain had finally let up. Beth could not wait to see Jordice again. Jordice Benton is Beth’s best friend in the whole world. “Dad those pancakes were delicious, I got to go, see you after school. Bye.” Beth called as she ran out the door to catch the bus. ***** “Jordice if you hurry up I will give you a ride to school,” Andrew said. “I’m going as fast as I can, besides if you leave with out me I can just ask mom for a ride to school,” Jordice called back. Jordice has longish brown hair, and green eyes; she lives with her mother, her father, her little sister Hope, and older brother Andrew, her grandmother also lived with there family and her big sister lived there at one point as well. Jordice is fifteen, Hope is eleven and Andrew is seventeen. Jordice’s best friend is Beth; they had been best friends since fifth grade, which is when Beth and her family moved to Littleton. Now it’s just Beth and her father, Daryll, but no one ever says anything about it and Beth doesn’t mention it either. “Come on Jordice we don’t have all day here, we’re going to be late for school if you keep on delaying us.” Hope called from the doorway. “I’m coming,” Jordice grumbled as she picked her bag up from where it sat next to the front door. Jordice went and got into her brother’s truck, which could fit three people in it. According to the school Jordice and her family lived to close to ride the bus to school, but it was a long way from their house to the school, so Andrew, or their parents gave them a ride to school each morning. Since after school they didn’t run a risk of being late and getting in trouble they all walked home, weather, and parent, permitting. ‘I can’t wait to see Beth’ Jordice thought as the truck neared the schoolyard ‘I hope she had a good summer.’ Andrew stopped the truck in front of the high school; the middle school was just across the street “All right everyone out, we have reached our final, and only destination." Jordice jumped out of the truck; she looked back at her brother and said, “You’re a weirdo, you know that right?” “Yes I do but it comes with the job of being the carpool man,” Andrew said. Hope jumped out and slammed the door shut, “See ya after school if it’s raining again” and off she ran, with Jordice following after, just as a red Ferrari pulled up to the schoolyard. ***** Shyann could not believe this was going to be her new school. It was a public school, the first public school Shyann had ever stepped foot in. When living back home she had always gone to the big private school for girls, while her brother had gone just across the street at the all boys’ school. Now she was going to a public school, sure there wasn’t a uniform but she was going to have to learn with a bunch of BOYS. “Shyann hunny go get to know some of your fellow students while I talk to your principal,” Lara said. Shyann looked around the schoolyard as her mother went into the school building. Not far from where she stood where two girls talking, with a younger girl standing off to the side. ‘Here goes nothing’ Shyann thought as she started to walk over to the girls. The girl with the brown hair turned to face Shyann. The other girl also turned. “Um, hi,” Shyann said “I’m new here. My name is Shyann.” “Hi,” the girl with the black hair said “My name is Beth and this,” she said pointing to her brown haired friend “Is Jordice, oh and the little girl is Jordice’s little sister Hope.” “I’m just waiting for my friends, and look there they are. Bye,” she called as she ran across the street. “I’ve never been to a public school before,” Shyann said “So I don’t know how to act around the people.” “You act like a normal everyday teenager, just because this is a public school does not mean we act different,” Jordice said a little coldly. Before Shyann could answer back as to what she meant the bell rang and everyone started to head into the school. ‘Well’ she thought ‘I’m getting off to a great start at my new school.’ ***** “Jordice that was so rude, the poor girl is just trying to make friends, you should have been nicer, she’s new,” Beth scolded as they walked in to there first class. ‘Leave it to Beth to reprimand me’ Jordice thought to her self but out loud she said, “I don’t have to be her friend, besides she was stereotyping us just because we’re not private school students.” “She was not, she’s just trying to talk to us, she didn’t know that she was saying anything wrong,” Beth said. ‘She can be so stubborn sometimes’ she thought as she said this. Just as Jordice was about to answer back, the classroom door opened and in came the new girl. Jordice could not believe her eyes, how was it possible that out of all the classes in this one school Shyann was put in this one. ‘I wish I was put into one of the three classes that get to switch then I wouldn’t have to spend the whole day with her.’ Jordice thought. See their school was small, so only three classes moved from teacher to teacher, and the rest just stayed in the same room while the teacher changed (the ones that changed were stuck up on the second floor) Beth looked over at the new girl smiled and waved her back to the table they sat at. Jordice could not, would not believe it, Beth was inviting a perfect stranger to sit at their table. The world was coming to an end especially if some one else was sitting at the best friends table. “Hey guys, sorry if I got off on the wrong foot this morning I just didn’t know what to say, I guess I was just a little nervous, first day in a new school and all, you know,” Shyann said, hopefully this time they wouldn’t look at her like she was crazy. “No I don’t know, I’ve never been to a different school,” Jordice said. ‘She might be able to win Beth’s compassion but she’ll have to try harder then that to get mine.’ “I understand,” Beth said “Here you can sit with us, there’s an extra seat waiting to be filled.” “Thanks,” Shyann said taking the seat on Beth’s left side. Jordice sunk down low in her chair. She didn’t want to be rude but this girl just got on her nerves. Jordice didn’t know what it was about Shyann but she knew she would find out in no time at all. Detective Jordice was now on the case, and she didn’t rest until the case was solved, unless it was bedtime or some emergency came up. ‘Maybe,’ Jordice thought ‘It’s those weird purple eyes, they’re kind of creepy.’ She would have to settle on that for now, class was starting and this year Jordice could not afford to space out during class time. This story has a total of nine chapters so far, which means theres eight more if you guys like it and want to read more Edited by Saratn, Jun 25 2008, 02:10 PM.

Chapter Two: Being Friends Wouldn’t Hurt Jordice threw herself down onto her bed when she got home from school, or should she say after following Shyann home. She followed Shyann after walking Hope home since Hope didn’t like to walk alone, once little sister was home Jordice had followed the red Ferrari on her bike. Shyann’s house was huge and that was not an understatement. The house was three stories high and was twice the length of Jordice’s house, and Jordice’s was pretty long seeing as how many people lived there. Jordice was pretty sure that no one saw her but she wasn’t one hundred percent positive. So just in case someone who saw her confronted her she would have to make up an alibi 'cause just saying, “I was ridding my bike around town,” wouldn’t get you anywhere. No one in this town ‘just rode their bikes’ every one had a reason to be on their bikes and everyone always had somewhere to go. Even the little kids knew where they were going before they set foot on that bike pedal. Jordice could always tell them her mother had sent her to greet the new people, but most people would already know that Jordice must have meet the eldest daughter. ‘That’s ok I’ll tell them I was going to spend some of my summer money and wanted to see if Beth would come with me,” Jordice thought. She knew this plan would work; she used it before when she was following her brother and his girlfriend around on their dates. Once she had come up with this plan and seen the house Jordice had decided it was time to come home. So far she hadn’t needed to use that plan. ‘I just hope that Shyann didn’t see me, then I’m really a goner.’ ***** Shyann knew that Jordice didn’t like her that was why she could not figure out why Jordice had followed her home. Shyann had seen her even though Jordice thought she was well out of sight, the truth was Jordice was in clear view; anyone could have seen that she was following Lara’s Ferrari down the street. Then to make matters even more obvious, Jordice had sat on her bike and started straight at the house Shyann lived in. Shyann could not believe someone who hated her that much would come just to stare at her house. Maybe Jordice had plans to destroy the house and just needed to know where it was. Shyann hoped she was wrong and she wished know, as she started her math homework, that she was back home where she belonged. ****** Beth was sitting at her desk thinking about what to write next. Her assignment was to write a three page long essay about the wars that shaped America. How was she supposed to write three pages on one of the most boring subjects know to mankind? History was the most boring class that teachers had ever made children learn. ‘What is the good of knowing all this, it isn’t like anyone cares.’ Beth thought. Sighing she turned her attention back to her report. She had to focus; she could not afford to get bad grades. If any student in her school was failing any classes they were not permitted to go to any field trips what so ever. She knew how it felt to have to sit out and watch everyone else go out and have a good time. Last year Jordice and Beth had been skipping classes together; they were going through the rebel stage, as Daryll had put it. Beth loved how her father had said that to them and explained it to Jordice's parents. "Don't worry they'll grow out of this you know kids at this age, they won't listen to anyone, you have a son and surely he did this, as a matter of fact I hear that boys are the worst when they hit this age," Daryll had said whispering the last part. Jordice's parents had laughed at this and admitted that when Andrew was at that age he had been ten times worse then Jordice. They just hoped that Jordice's rebels’ stage wore off sooner then Andrews did. There hope won’t coming true anytime soon, both the girls were still rebel’s, they had just decided that they would definitely not be skipping any more classes. Beth wrote some more of her report then she gave up completely and decided to call Jordice. The phone rang twice before Jordice picked up. "Hey Beth I was wondering when you would call," Jordice said as soon as she picked up the phone. "I hate the fact that your family has caller id it is so annoying, anyway I was calling to talk to you about today, why were you so judge mental, I know how it feels to be new and to have no friends and let me tell you it is not a good feeling," "Ok Beth calm down I know and I'm sorry ok there’s just something about that girl that really creeps me out and I don't know what it is but I promise that I will make nice with her tomorrow. I mean being friends can't hurt can it?" "No of course not, now I was also wondering did you start that stupid history report for Mr.Wyman yet?" From there the girls went on to talk about the report and not once did the topic of the new girl or the fact that there was something strange about her ever come up again. ***** Shyann knew the reason that her parents split was mainly because her father couldn't handle the truth about the secret that all females in the family shared. Every single female in their family, no matter how young or how old, were witches, real life magical witches. Not those ones who wield around wands and stuff like that, but the kind that possessed a special unique power of they’re very own. Now at certain times there had been a group of witches who could use their combined powers to do all different kinds of spells, but this had not happened for many years. Lara said that this was because out of the three families that made up this 'Circle' they were the only ones who had told their children, or the 'Circle of Witches' as her mother had called it or the next 'Generation of the Coven' as her grandmother had called it. Until their children were told, the ‘Circle’ could never be complete, and if it was not competed by Halloween of this very year then the strongest demons would be released into the world and no one would be able to stop them, because no one would be strong enough. Lara remember when she was a child how her mother would tell her that unless she grew up and took her daughter, that she would most likely have one day, far up into the country there was no chance that she would met the two whose families had gone astray, and that the world would come to an end. When Lara had been searching for a house she had felt an extra strong magical pull from this area, and doing some research she had found that her great-great-grandmother had lived here until she died, which was when the 'Circle' had broken. Doing more research she noticed that her grandmother had never returned there explaining why Lara's mother had never been able to meet the other two families that would hold the 'Circle' together, now hopefully moving back to Littleton would mean that Shyann had a chance to rebuild the Circle. ***** "Jack the Johnson’s have moved back, that means that they are looking for the other members of the 'Circle', yet you still refuse to let me tell Jordice that she is one of them, why?" Casey, Jordice's mother asked her husband. "Because, what good will it do them if they don't know who the other one is, they would still only have two, just like after their family gave up and moved away, because you can bet that Daryll is not going to tell Beth, not after Magic is what killed his wife and then ended up taking his sons life," Jack answered. "She has a right to know, they both do and someone will tell them eventually, and if no one tells them then they will begin to see it when they start to accidentally use their powers. So either you let me tell Jordice or she will find out from someone else, it's your choice." "Fine but I suggest you call Daryll and tell him that the 'Circle' is about to come together again." with that Jack left the room so that Casey could have privacy to make the call. She dialed the number and waited. One, two, three rings and then Daryll picked up the phone. "Hello" he said calmly. "Hi Daryll, it's Jordice's mom I just thought I should tell you that the Johnson family has moved back and I'm pretty sure they are out to complete the 'Circle'," Casey said. "That means I should tell Beth the truth about her mother and all of the other stuff that goes along with that." "That is up to you but I’m telling Jordice because I would rather her hear it from me then from someone else." "You’re right, I'll tell Beth too, I think her being in the 'Circle' would keep her safer anyway, good-bye Casey." "Bye Daryll." After hanging up Casey headed upstairs, she had a lot to explain to Jordice and when she thought about it she had to tell Hope too although Hope was not going to be a member of the 'Circle', she still had the power inside of her. Standing outside the door to Jordice's room Casey took a deep breath; she could hear the girls talking inside. She knocked on the door. "Come in," Jordice called, and slowly Casey entered the room. |
