Chapter One Lord Busidion "Get up now, Seth!" shouted an old shakey voice from the other room. "I expect you to do all your chores before you can leave." "Where am I going?" I asked a cranky voice. "You are suppose to be going to the Council of Dragons to show them the egg you have found in the Favarthian Woods. They would be greatful if you return the egg to them." "Maybe then I would become a Dragon Warrior!" I shouted back ethustiactically. I am known for telling lies and extending the truth a lot. My grandpa gets extremely irritated when I do this to him. My grandpa has been taking care of me for a long time. My mother died when she gave birth to me. My father, he has been missing for years now, without a trace. My father he was a Dragon Warrior and me and my grandpa think he was captured during the war that has been going on. "Seth, how many times have I told you not to do this to me? You know I get extremely irritated when you do this to me." "Sorry grandpa, it's just, I want to look for my father. He has been gone for years and no one has seen him." "I know how it is, Seth. You just need to keep your head up, and wish for the best. I am sure that the High King is doing his best to find him." "He must not be doing a very good job, because he would already be found!" I shouted at him. I know I was being a little selfish at the time. I knew of the war that was going on, and Geogon is killing too many innocent people. Geogon is sometimes known as the Dark One. Not to many people know of his name, for whatever reasons that may be. The Council of Dragons is dying out slowly, because of this perilous war. This war is tearing Quar in two. Their was a knock at the door. My grandfather went to open it and I noticed it was my friend Meghan. She looked so beautiful standing in the doorway as the sun rose in the morning sky. Meghan has been my friend since we were young. And no matter how hard people try no one could separate us two. Meghan is fairly taller than me, with gleaming blue eyes, and long, soft dirty blond hair tied in a poinytail. She has this smile that makes me feel good inside. She only uses that smile with me, so that makes me feel special being with her. "I am sorry for bothering you at this time of day, Mr. Arvil." Meghan said sweetly to him. "No, no need to be sorry Meghan. I have told you plenty of times, you are welcomed here. Can I get you something to eat?" "No thank you, Mr. Arvil. We really need to get going. If we wait any longer then we will not get their for a long time, knowing Seth's pace." she added jokingly. "Well, I will go and pack your food for you then. And try and be quick. An old man can not take care of himself these days, especially with Geogon up and about." "How about you Seth, do you have everything together?" Meghan asked me. "Just about." I responded back to her. "Is their any day when you are on time?" she asked me. "Yeah, never mind. Do you keep track or something for every day when I still have to get ready at the last minute?" "Yes, in fact I do. Just in case their is a day when you are on time, which that is not going to happen." "You know Meghan we need to get going if we want to get a good head start to the Council of Dragons." "I already have Gwer and Summer out of the stables, and they are raring to go." Gwer is my white stallion, and Summer is Meghan's light tan mare. To tell you the truth Meghan is a lot better at horse riding than me. The only thing I can do is run for my life. No really, I can put up a decent fight. The only time I had to fight was when Mrae Fortifur was being attacked by Drows. On my horse I have my sword Drynth, who belonged to my father at one point. And also I have a bow and a couple dozen arrows. Meghan has the food on her horse, because if I had the food with me then their would not be any left to eat. "Meghan are you ready for a good voyage?" I asked her curiously. Usually Meghan hates going on long voyages away from Mrae Fortifur. In fact I do not recall her ever leaving our home village. "Yes I am ready, even though I have not been far away from my home before." We rode up to the gates of Mrae Fortifur. The guard opened the gate for us to go by. "Have a safe voyage Sir Seth and Lady Meghan of Mrae Fortifur. And have God speed you." "We will, and thanks Druin." Meghan responded. "Your welcome Meghan. Some people have good manners!" said Druin jokingly. Druin opened the gates and let us by. "You know Seth he's right." said Meghan. "What? That I need to be more polite?" "Not just that, but we need to get their fast. What if Geogon's men come and try and steal the egg. For all we know we could be miles from the Council of Dragons." I pondered this for a few minutes. I then took out a map and studied it for it about five minuets "What are you...?" Meghan started to ask. "Most likely if Geogon or his men come looking for the egg they need a spy from or around Mrae Fortifur. Only a few people know about the egg. So I am thinking we should change our route. If we go through the Forest of Quar, to Mrae Dugonia, past the gates of Mrae Alexanrious, over the Crystal River, and finally through the Tunnel of the Gods." "How long is that going to take?" Meghan asked. "About a month." I said confidently. "We don't have that kind of time. Let me see the map please." she asked politely. I handed it to her. "Why don't we go near Mrae Quarathian? It'll have an extra week or so. Plus it'll be easier on our horses." "As long as we get there I am, fine with your plan." I responded. "Well let's get going." She responded back. As you can see we agree on most of these kinds of things. She can find the easiest way, even in the most difficult situations. We traveled about an hour when a black horse pulled in front of us. The rider is a tall lanky figure. He looks like he could beat up twenty men at once. "No one may pass without paying a fee." "How much?" Meghan asked politely. "Two-hundred qwiths. {Please note that two-hundred qwiths equal one-hundred American dollars.} No less." "What, you got to be kidding!?!?" I responded angrily. "Are you going to pay?" he asked. "No." I responded. "Too bad then. You cannot pass." "You want to bet?" I asked with rage flowing through me. "You will have to go through me if you want to pass. Either way I'll kill you." "Fine I accept." I said quickly without thinking of my answer. "No Seth." Meghan said. "No one asked for your input you little scrawny girl. You have no right to live among the race of man, Us men are so much superior over elves, and women." said the mysterious figure. I had it with this guy! First the cost to go through, and now the remark about Meghan. Rage flew through my body. I unsheathed my sword from its scabbard. My sword was glowing red. "I've had enough of you, you hear me? I am fed up with it! You better take back what you said to her!" I was so angry I swung my sword into a tree, and it fell to the ground. This mysterious figure backed up a little. I guess my sword reacted with my anger. "Hahahah...you’re telling me to take back what I said to the dumb girl, eh? I think not! You would have to kill me, because I will never ever take back what I said about her. Woman have no use to the race of men. You should start learning that. "Well then I guess I will have to kill you!" I shouted with rage building up in my body. "Please don't Seth!" exclaimed Meghan. An arrow whizzed over our head before I could respond. The arrow was black. The direction was coming from behind Meghan. Meghan moved right before the arrow hit her. I saw a shadowy figure in the bushes. I was about to go into the woods after him, for he ran right when I saw him. "Get back over here you idiot! Do you think you could actually get the upper hand against Sorgon the Hunter of Death!" exclaimed the mysterious man. "Who's Sorgon?" "He's a servant of Geogon." It wasn't the mysterious man to answer, but Meghan, "His Arrow of Death revolves around black magic. My mother told me about him. Once the arrow hits your body you die within an hour. There is no known way of curing this dark magic." Her face was calm as she said this piece of fact. "Then we should get going!" I exclaimed. More arrows shot past our head. Just a few seconds later I saw several Varders in the closing. We had no chance of escaping from the Varders. I don't know much about the Varders, but this; you don't want to mess with these guys. Especially with a whole army of them. So basically it was going to be hit and run. We don't have much of a choice anyways. "If you don't mind me saying but we should probably think about leaving right about now...before you know...the Varders come any closer..." said the mystery man. "First we should find a spot to hide for a minute or two. Just until they leave." I said quickly and slowly. I wasn't really sure of what I was saying. I just hope I just told them the right thing. One wrong move and we can die at the hands at Geogon's hands. I hope that part will never come to us. "I know of a cave that can give us shelter...it isn't that far from here. If we get their maybe we have a chance." said the man. "What cave? I never heard of any cave in this area." I said. "The cave is hidden. Only kings know of this from the Council of Dragons. The cave is a location for the dwarfs." he responded. While this was going on we were running as fast as we could. We didn't dare staying in one place and talking. "I thought the dwarfs were extinct." I continued counfused about this whole discussion. ---note say what you will, say what you like. I do not care to be quite frank. The concept of this story is basically trashed but keeping a few elements. compare this to Agryl and see how much different it is. oh...and by the way, in order to read more you need to get permission to see my vault. It isn't often that I put stories there. And also, please don't bother correcting this story. i'm not going to go back and edit this anyway. this is just for entertainment. |

Where we gonna go from here?
|
It was an interesting story. It didn't capture my attention, though; probably not something I'd want to see more of. It's probably just a personal preference though. The writing style is good, anyways, much preferred over some of the other things I've seen from you, Saratn. Good work. xx |
